Hebrew fluency is at the core of the learning experience at Schechter. It can been seen from the signs in the hallway, to the conversations in the classrooms. Beginning in the Gan, our youngest learners sing songs and play games in Hebrew to develop a comfort with a new language. Throughout the Lower School, students learn about Torah, Israel and Jewish holidays in Hebrew. In the Upper School, students develop mastery of conversation, reading and writing, culminating with our Senior Hebrew Play and trip to Israel.
On my recent trip to Israel, I realized how important my Hebrew education at Schechter is. I’ve been able to converse with all different kinds of people and I didn’t have to make an effort to speak to them since I already knew a substantial amount of Hebrew. I’m so thankful for my education at Schechter.
